Mauni Amavasya / Pausha Amavasya 2022

'Mauni Amavasya' means the silent on the day of Amavasya. On this festival the saints and yogis are silent. Most of the women living in the houses are silent. Bathing in the river Ganges is also practiced. Bathing in the Ganges is not for everyone. Therefore, while bathing at home, one should add Kashi Ganga to the water and recite the mantra ‘Gangecha Yamunechaiva Godavari Saraswati, Narmada Indus Cauvery Jalesmin Sannidhum Kuru’. By doing so the blessing of all the sacred rivers of the country, their elements will reach the bathing water.
