Masa Shivaratri 2022 Date and Tithi Time

The Krishna Chaturdashi that occurs every month is called the month of Shivaratri.  The festival of our Lord Shiva comes every month. Every month on Krishna Chaturdashi, following the birth date of Lord Shiva, a puja is performed for Bhola Shankara. On this day, fasting, puja, abhishekas, and circumambulation are special.

What to do today?

This day is said to be the day of love for Lord Shiva. It is believed that the anointing and worship of Lord Shiva on this day fulfills the desires. Shiva should be anointed in the morning but not in the evening. Payasam should be the prasad for this day. 

Those who wish to fast should fast from morning and anoint Lord Shiva in the evening during Pradosha in remembrance of Lord Shiva. Adornment to Vishnu means love.  Shiva likes abhishekas. Therefore Lord Shiva should be performed Abhisheka on this day not with Rudra but with Namaka and Chamakala. Also, Pradosha Pujas are also important to Lord Shiva. After the anointing, Bilvashtottaram says that the Bilva forces should be offered to Shiva. Without doing any of these, it is also advisable to fast at least in the morning, go to the Shiva temple in the evening and chant the Panchakshari mantra Om Namah Sivaya. They have to make compensations according to whose means.

On the day of Mahashivaratri, one should worship Lord Shiva during the period of Pradosha, following the rule of fasting and without sleeping. Even if you are not able to do what you want to do on Maha Shivaratri in any case, you will get good results by doing these things on any of these twelve months of Shivaratri.
